Sometimes it can be pretty hard to get a hitch to fit on modern vehicles due to the way newer vehicles have almost excessive fascias and heat shields at the rear under the bumpers. The manufacturers of the vehicles tend to be overly cautious with the placement of heat shields in most cases.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C13234 is a great option for a 2019 Ford Edge. In regards to trimming, this is only very minor and would not create any issue on the vehicle. The side panels will need to be trimmed slightly as the hitch actually mounts to a spot on the frame where they are partially secured.
